Europos Parkas implemented the project supported by Fund for Project Development from EEA and the Norwegian Financial Mechanisms

 

 

Public Institution Europos Parkas successfully implemented the project Preparation of Investment and Technical Projects for the Restoration of Liubavas Manor Watermill and Its Adaptation to Cultural and Public Needs supported under EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms. All specified objectives had been achieved.

 

The prepared investment and technical projects are necessary for the main project by which reduction of social and economic differences of the Republic of Lithuania will be promoted in order to encourage the cultural tourism by preserving and actualizing the object of cultural heritage. Europos Parkas suggests taking advantage of the potential of cultural and tourism services in countrified surrounding for economic enhancement of Vilnius region; and submitted application for joint support by Lithuanian Republic and EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms under the second call for individual projects.

 

Liubavas watermill is distinguished by excellent technique of construction works and high quality of the materials and equipment used as a result of which major part of authentic technological equipment of the watermill remained till our days. Attractiveness of the restored watermill will be formed by professionally equipped museum with the operating authentic mechanisms, the collection created by modern means, which will disclose history of the watermill and its surroundings and propagate the use of renewable energy sources.

 

Liubavas watermill adapted for cultural and other public needs will enrich the tourism route connecting Europos Parkas, Center of the Europe, and a post of Struvė geodesic arc.
