DIDART

This project has been co-financed by the European Commission Directorate - General for Education and Culture Framework programme "Culture 2000"

DIDART is an international project on contemporary art education. The aim of the project is the creation of a multilingual, transnational network, where the most significant experiences in this field may meet and interact in full respect of each other's uniqueness and traditions. Another main goal of DIDART is to arouse general interest and an indepth debate on the importance of the education to art and its places.

Six international-famous artists Sissi, Botto and Bruno, Anna de Manincor, Mari Slaattelid, Gintaras Karosas and Tellervo Kalleinen in collaboration with the museums they represent created their own houses, starting from a common structure. The house contains images of the most significant works, videos, memories, books, films, clothes, tools, music and food. The artists traveled with their houses throughout Europe, were guests of the partner museums of DIDART. During the presence of the house and the artist, the museum organized workshop activities for a public.

In September 2005 all the houses were sent to Regio Emilia for a final exhibition. Interactive Artists' Houses are available on line.  The development of the project can be followed on the web site www.didart.net

“The Artists' Houses exhibit embraces the dream of every child: that of being able to travel with their own house bringing with them the most beloved objects and dearest effects because a house is an extension of our own identities and it is built and modeled after our own lives. Many of our experiences during every day of our lives occur in the home or we “collect them” at home.<...> The house becomes a metapfor of the artist's identity which is tightly bound to his work. ”- says the initiator of the project Cristina Francucci.
